Ritual Committee

Until a new Rabbi assumes our pulpit the Har El Ritual Committee arranges worship services for members and guests on Shabbat, holidays, and special occasions. We look for ways to deepen the level of the worship experience through prayer, teaching and participation.

We are fortunate to have Rabbi Louis Sutker from Victoria lead our services once a month. He will also preside over our community seder this coming Pesach.

Procedures are in place to make sure that spiritual needs are covered should an emergency or unexpected event occur that may require the guidance of a rabbi. The Ritual Committee can also provide information on our dedicated section of Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver.

The Committee welcomes the increased participation of the North Shore Hebrew School at services. We look forward to more of our youth learning and leading prayers well in advance of becoming Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

Congregants are invited to contact the Ritual Chair, Neil Loomer, with questions or suggestions for our religious services and programs. We also invite congregants who are able, to lead a portion of a service, deliver a d’var Torah, chant a Haftarah and/or read Torah.

Classes will also be given in the next few months for those who wish to learn to lead prayers as well as Torah and Haftarah trop.

Congregants are invited to join the Ritual Committee and lend your voice to recommendations and decisions that will benefit our congregation for generations to come.
