The Rabbi will be away studying at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality until Friday. Wednesday’s Not for Seniors Only / Lunch & Learn class has been cancelled. If you need any assistance please contact the office or check the Rabbi’s voicemail for further info by calling him at the shul or his home study.
THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 27th — starting at 6pm…
Join us for a short family-friendly Friday night service, immediately followed by a potluck dinner in the upper social hall! This is a great opportunity to join with your fellow Har Elians and the Rabbi in supporting our children’s tefilot learning. There’s $5 cost per person, or $10 per family, to cover grape juice and challah.
To keep Har El’s Kitchen strictly Kosher, we will not be using any dishes, glassware, cups, silverware or serving utensils from the kitchen. Please bring what you need to serve your dish and to plate your own food.
Please let Carmel know what dish you’d like to share, and RSVP your numbers. carmelshalom@gmail.com / (604) 889‑9054
Har El has been fortunate to receive a grant to create a series of workshops to support our interfaith community. We would like your help with our planning the workshops to better understand what people would want to get out of this series. Please join Rabbi Shmuel and the Interfaith Workshop Planning Committee at Har El on Sunday, January 29, from 10am to 11:50am for a complimentary brunch with free child-minding. We want to hear your thoughts on the issues facing interfaith families and your ideas on what our workshop should address.
Some topics that have been discussed in similar forums include: How to include partners in rituals? Does the family need to choose one religion? Which holidays to celebrate? Family pressure / acceptance? Life event celebrations? (Bris, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Marriage, Funeral) How do our children identify themselves religiously?
Please reply if you can attend to the office, 604−925−6488, extension 4. If you have any questions, please call Rabbi Shmuel at extension 2 or email him at rabbi@harel.org. We greatly appreciate your assistance!
Tables are filling up for our South African Night Fundraiser! Please call the office if you have not yet reserved a spot!
